Looking for unique gifts this holiday season? My etsy store is chock full of new original paintings & note cards that will make the perfect present for your special someone.

Framing isn't necessary for my canvas paintings, since the edges are finished off with ribbon. And many of the new watercolors on paper come in lovely thick wooden frames.

Don't forget to put a little art under your tree this year. SHOP NOW!

** If you have purchased, been gifted or possibly robbed a house where you stole Kate Cosgrove artwork, send me a photo of you & the piece (or your kid and the piece). I'll feature you on my blog! Be sure to include any details that make your story special! k8cosgrove@gmail.com

Mini Collages Jump the Pond

Two of my favorite mini-collages are boxed up and ready for shipping to their new home in England.

ACEO of the Week: Two Beavers Are Better Than One

This week's ACEO is inspired by TV and my love for double entendres and beavers.

Since my studio is located on Beaver St., this noble creature has become a part of my everyday life.

Even Egon, my mini dog has a treasured stuffed beaver and when I say 'Egon, where's your beaver?!" he gallops off to find it.

Captain Hooked on Art

What do pirates like more than buried treasure? ARRRRRT by Kate Cosgrove...

Matthew is a pirate. He's into parrots, eye patches and the occasional skull-n-cross bones... But surprisingly enough, he is also starting quite the art collection.

When asked if I could supply him with a pirate-themed painting for the wall of his pirate ship, I was surprised that he didn't blow my door down with a cannon and just steal it. I was also relieved that he didn't make me walk the plank. Turns out, for a fierce pirate, Matthew is a pretty great guy! And for that Matthew, I thank you...

Portrait of a Lady... and her family

I am not always able to take on family portraits, but some families are way too cute to pass up!

Case in point: Johanna and Ryan celebrated their 5th anniversary this fall. To help celebrate, Laureen and Doug (Johanna's parents) hired me to create a family portrait in their honor.

Finished and framed; wrapped and boxed; this portrait is almost ready to ship to it's family. Thanks for the inspiration Johanna, Ryan, Ava and Oliver!

ACEO of the WEEK: Who's HOO

This week's ACEO is inspired by those "Whose Who" guides that are pretty much a scam since you have to pay to be someone. And then it got me thinking, what if animals did something like that - how silly... Which makes humans the silliest by far! Bid now!

Apple 4 teacher & Art 4 adoption...

Style icon, big sister and lover of salami at tea parties, my friend Ava has a flare that can't be beat...

So I was honored when I heard that she was rocking out her new backpack with 'Art 4 Adoption' fundraiser pins on the VERY first day of school!

Even though most of us will never be as cool as Ava... with the right accessories (and lunch meat), we can get a little closer!

K8 Art Collector Profile: The Positive Thinkers

It's not been an easy year for Landon and his wife Heather. Personal tragedies have rocked their world, causing them to be in a state of sadness.

"I stumbled upon an article interviewing you in the NOISE. I was curious, so I looked up your blog and from there started looking through your artwork, the entire time with a big smile on my face. With everything going on, it feels very good to be able to forget about everything for a moment and smile," said Landon in an email to me.

I can't think of a greater compliment than that! Except maybe that he then took it a step farther... Landon went right out and visited 2 galleries that sell my art. He then purchased a piece from each (without the blessing of Heather...) ... Fortunately she fell in love with 'Charlie the Turtle,' and all was right with the world.
**photo of Heather & Landon with their pieces, on a much-needed beach getaway.

When I wished them better luck, he said something that struck a chord with me: "My wife and I are raging optimists, despite the tough times we believe good things are close around the corner." A mantra I (and a lot of people I know) definitely need to adopt! Thanks for spreading the hope, and the art!

Check out Landon's blog at: www.MuddyParasol.com

The Feline Fan

Normally my art stories feature people around the world who have acquired my artwork. But this time the person or should I say purrrson is a cat...

Meet 'Rooney,' a kitten recently adopted by a friend of mine in New York. Rooney purrrrchased a piece of my artwork to start his own collection. (Too much?! Well I love puns so deal with it.)

It was no mistake that the piece he chose was a portrait of himself. At least he is a kitten with high self-esteem. And great taste... Thanks Rooney, I bet your art collection will one day be the cat's pajamas!

Make some NOISE: Kate Cosgrove featured in the NOISE magazine

Check out my article in this week's NOISE

The NOISE is interviewing 4 artists over the course of 4 weeks. Last week was violinist Lauren Hansen, and this week was my turn...

They had me doodle my interpretation of the header - which was a lot of fun! And you can't miss my GIANT head on the cover, (thank you Mickey Chouinard for the hair/makeup pre-photo shoot!)... Fortunately the photo was taken by the gifted Matthew Dae Smith - because if you're going to have a zoom that tight to your pores, you want it taken by a talented artist!

Also, this is Egon the mini-dog's first time in print... if only he were a little taller - this could be the beginning of his modeling career...

Animal Art for Angelo

Angelo loves animals, in fact, he's loved them all his life...

When his Uncle Mickey (the famous fashionista) was looking for the perfect gift, it had to be animal-art for Angelo. And a giraffe painting by Kate Cosgrove was just the thing to make this tiny animal-lover happy.

So now Angelo loves art, in fact, he's loved it most his life...

Aceo of the Week: DUET

ACEO of this week is a piece called "Duet"... bid NOW!

I
t is based off of a little hipster husband and wife music duo that I saw at my favorite club (which closed it's doors forever a few years ago).

They were the opener for 'The Hard Lessons' concert... and while I can't remember this duo's name - I will never forget how cool they were and how part of me still wants to be them when I grow up. (Despite the fact that they are quite possibly younger than I... funny how that happens...)

Sibling Rivalry

It was time for Mike Kohon to make good on a long-time promise to his little sister. His bold claim was that one day he would get her a Burmese Tiger named "Leo".

I don't know if you've ever tried to catch a live tiger, but they are very fast, very large and slightly man-eating...

Since Kohon was not willing to admit defeat, but also did not want Emily to be mauled by her gift, the next best thing was a piece of tiger art. Kate Cosgrove tiger art to be exact...

I think the photo tells the rest of the story: a gift given, a destiny fulfilled. Thanks Kohon kids, you're grrreat!

(You think I went too far with the Tony the Tiger reference?! Well, it's MY blog, be 'cool' on your own blog...)

Blake: The Boy Within

A good friend of my family is about to become a grandma for the very first time! A lady of great style, she knew that grandbaby Blake's already gorgeous nursery should have some Kate Cosgrove Art custom creations. The parents-in-progress (mom featured in photo) were interested in painted letters to hang above his crib.

While I had not worked on letters before - I was very happy to help! (In addition, Grandma requested that the payment for this project go towards the adoption fund for our little girl. Thanks so much for that!!)

To the family, Congratulations! And to Blake, your room is now ready, sir.

Kate Cosgrove Art Flies Further South Than Ever Before...

My artwork is traveling to more exotic lands than I am these days... The latest locale: Colombia.

Juan Marin, is not only the first Colombian owner of Kate Cosgrove Art, but he also became the top winner of my 'FaceBook Fan Page Challenge' by recruiting more 'fans' than anybody!

Juan (see photo) braves the harsh Colombian winter to pose with some feline friends and his new art piece, a cat ACEO [mini original painting].

Is it just me, or is his tiger-cat pal looking directly at the painting? Maybe she will be the second Colombian customer... and the first non-human... Thanks Juan!
